Zadie has found something that is hers and all hers. She doesn't have to share it with anyone. She can sleep with it, drag it everywhere, and she can even say its name, "Bear." I often walk around the house calling "Bear, Bear, where are you?" Now Zadie will walk around and call out "Bear, Bear." Zadie's "bear" sounds more like "baa" but it gets the point across. This girl is dying to communicate, or shall I say, biting to communicate?
The other day Zola had blocked Zadie from playing with something one too many times, she squat down so her face was level with Zola's arm, moved in, and sunk her teeth in. Zola was in shock, cried, and then screamed multiple times at the top of her lungs "No biting Zadie, no biting!!!" We haven't had another biting incident again but I did prevent two potential biting incidents today as I saw Zadie move in for the kill. Zola is now learning why I always tell her not to grab toys out of Zadie's hands and that she has to share. The only difference now is that Zadie has learned a way to communicate what she wants.
Zadie also may have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) already. I mean it was only a matter of time, what with all the cleaning and straightening I am always doing. She walks up to the sink and rubs her hands together repeatedly. This is her way of saying she wants to wash her hands. The problem is that she wants to wash her hands a lot and for a very very long time. She literally will throw herself on the ground and scream when I decide that we have wasted enough water for the day and that hand washing time is over. We are working it out. I just have to teach her how to get down off the step stool herself and then she can play in the sink to her heart's content.
During the last sickness in the house we rediscovered our love of popcorn. Ever heard of Whirleypop? I don't even think Zola had tried popcorn at 12 months but Zadie has been an avid eater ever since introduced. I was worried about popcorn being a choking hazard but Zadie has no problem. The girl will eat three to four small bowls of popcorn. We are also big fans of Dum Dum lollipops (nice and small and nothing in the middle), even Zadie has had a few lollipops already!
I've posted a bunch of pics. The sandbox pictures are from the indoor sandbox at the Flower & Garden show at Navy Pier. We met my parents for a wee visit one day. The Auntie pictures were taken the day we had to rescue her from sitting in a car repair shop all day & instead she came to play with us! The Steak-n-Shake pictures were taken at the Steak-n-Shake in Normal, IL, our favorite stop on the way to Peoria. The sleeping car pictures were taken on our way home from Peoria after attending new cousin Asher (10 weeks) baptismal party. I had to chase Zadie around Uncle Lindsey's house the entire time and therefore have no pictures of party or new baby (pretty sad and tiring). The girls finally got their hairs cut. Zadie would not keep a clip in her hair, this way she is clip free but can see & Zola's ends are new and beautiful.
Hope you all are well! Hugs & kisses all around.
