The Long Timeshare

We have finally settled in to our temporary home, across the street from our "old place." It took awhile to figure out the climate, lights, general location of our things, and slip into some type of routine. I suppose it is fortunate for us that our friends didn't sell their condo when they moved to Singapore last year. It is kind of weird being in their place without them. I miss them dearly! Zola is enjoying exploring all the toys that have been left and has found a few favorite books too. I think Zadie is just utterly confused about what is going on. Are we on vacation with no beach? It has been a wee bit of a rough ride so I'll recap from Thursday.

Thursday was the big move day. The movers came and moved EVERYTHING out of our condo and into storage. In the middle of this (10:30a), Zadie experienced a case of "nursemaid's" elbow after being swung by my Auntie for an extremely short swing. She cried immediately as if in pain and I checked her shoulder, but it didn't look dislocated. So I did what any mother does with a crying tired child, I put her in a nap. She proceeded to wake up on hour later screaming in pain and totally inconsolable. The girl didn't want to nurse so I knew something was wrong. The girl can't stop nursing! So I put her the ERGO and waited for the movers to finish up. I paid them and they left. Around noon I decided she must have broken something and really didn't know what to do. Should I try to get her and Zola into the car and to a hospital? I was too freaked out about strapping her in her car seat and trying to decide what hospital to go to that I called 911 instead. The promptly came and rescued us and took us to St. Mary's on Division. After what seemed an eternity, probably a half hour, we finally saw a doctor. The doctor took one look at her and said "Nursemaid's Elbow." Put the elbow back in the joint in about 5 seconds. Zadie was up around dancing around the ER in five minutes and the whole ordeal was done. Wowza. Nothing broken!! Lesson learned. Don't swing a child younger than three by their arms. Note taken.

This same day my brain decided to develop one of the worst headaches I have had in months. Just combine hormones with stress and I get headaches. Let's just say, I wasn't much help getting us moved across the street. Luckily Woody was able to come home and wisk us and our stuff away and my savior sister, Beth, cleaned up the old condo. We didn't sleep much that first night. I couldn't turn off my brain and Woody was busy unhooking the last bits of his computers' lifelines.

We are sleeping better now.

Now, only to do this all over again next week. At least we know this time, it is for good :)
