Visit to the Farm, Little Sickie

Last week I took the girls to visit The Farm (aka my parents house) for a few days. Our realtor was planning a broker open house and I didn't want to be anywhere near the house while this was going on. It takes us about 3 seconds to go from spotless to a complete disaster these days. The weather was absolutely beautiful. We were able to go on a nature walk, tractor ride, and general farm exploration. Zola got to see a fuzzy caterpillar up close and even see it curl into a ball when held. She found her "soft rock" (smooth rock) from her last visit that she had strategically placed by the door, what a memory.

What are you talking about Grandma?

Zola's favorite game, jump from the monkey bars

Old school high chair

Wagon ride

Here is our little fashionista...

Skipping down the hallway, nothing like gym shoes and a dress!

More deck swimming

In the previous post I mentioned that Zadie had a fever and got her first tooth. Day two into the fever I consulted the "fever" handout from our pediatrician that states teething does not cause fevers (maybe very low ones). Day three into the fever (high of 103!) I called the ped, as per the handout - call if fever lasts more than three days, and we made an appointment to go in. Everything checked out fine during the physical exam, only one thing remained, a urine test. Have you ever tried to have a baby pee in a cup? But seriously, they have this cute little bag that attaches/sticks to the baby and collects the urine. Babies don't pee on command so we went home and waited. Most of the urine went into her diaper but thankfully we got enough for the test. I did try a second bag but it didn't exactly collect pee - think the other number. Turns out, little kukuryku (kuu-kuu-ree-kuu, Polish for hair sticking up in the top/back of a baby, a nickname given to her by a woman that I sing with), has a UTI and is doing much better after starting her course of antibiotics. The rash she got from the antibiotic has almost gone away and she is slowly getting back to her old self.

Here is a video of her trying out her new bubbly lip/tongue combo. She's still a little sickie here, see her almost yawning twice.

Thanks Sarah for keeping us up to date. Both your babies are so beautiful! I hope to meet Zadie in person some time :o)
