Rehab Post #4

The rehab is moving right along. The foundation wall has been poured for the new addition. The rectangle that is jutting out will be the stairs going down to the basement. Unfortunately we have had below average temperatures all week so the "guys" are freezing and some things have had to be put on hold.

The cold weather has not stopped the leveling of the floors project. Our contractor wants all the floors to be level. No step up or step downs because of tile or radiant heat. This is complicated on the first floor because everything will be a wood floor with forced air heat except for the kitchen and bathroom, which will be tile with radiant heat (& on the second floor where the two bathrooms will have radiant heat). He therefore is "leveling" all the floors by placing 2 x 12s along the beam (basically creating a new joist system) and then laying sheets of plywood for the new sub floor. This will be the most structurally sound house ever. When it is rehabbed 100 years from now people will wonder what the heck we did.

Temporary heater, wood duct work

Basement, ready to get gravel, radiant piping, cement

All tidied up, ready for the mason

That is all for now. We hope you are all doing well and are getting ready to have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We are thankful for having such a wonderful contractor!
