Happy Halloween
Halloween has always been one of my favorite times of the year. I guess I like the fall in general, the changing leaves, the colder weather, the smell of burning leaves and the heat being turned on for the first time. I decided to take Zola trick or treating for the first time this year. She looked at me incredulously the first time she walked up to a house and someone gave her candy. We just walked around our neighborhood. Our neighborhood is flanked by condo buildings and rental properties with single family homes mixed in. I would say about a quarter of people were giving out candy. We had a good time. Zola insisted on not wearing her costume (OK, it is a little small) and she became mute. She would not say trick-or-treat or thank you but gave you her cutest shyest smile/grimace possible. She insisted on carrying around this candy apple covered in M&M's that we got at one of the first houses. She really just wanted to go home right away and eat this wonderful specimen of a treat. Who needs other candy!?! Someone even felt sorry for her little bag she had and gave her a full sized plastic jack-0-lantern candy collecting bucket of her own. I guess I wasn't prepared for this whole event, but in the end, we had a blast and Daddy even met us for the last couple of houses. All in all, a successful first Halloween outing. Now, I just have to hide the candy before everyone wakes up!
