The amazing thing about the house being insulated is that it is SO quiet now. Not only will we be protected from the elements, we are protected from hearing each other! I will have to sleep with monitors for both the girl's rooms because I won't be able to hear anything! Right now I can hear everyone at every time, including my neighbors. I think you will have to pinch me the first night I sleep in this new house because I don't think I'll really believe it!

Rehab Post #9
So much progress has been completed on the house it is finally starting to show in pictures. I haven't posted house pictures in awhile because I thought you may have been getting bored trying to figure out what was different. Wasn't that conduit there last week? It is hard to see the guts of the building changing over time in pictures, but you are in for a shock now! The pictures are in order of date taken...
New roof, rebuilt parapet walls in some places, new coping stones, skylight, access hatch, attic space vents, plumbing vents. What you don't see is the seven layers of roof that were torn off before the new roof was installed (two gravel, some tar, some modified bitumen...). The best part is that the old roof didn't seem to leak so no other roof repairs were required.
The new scupper. It will drain into a sewer line running along the outside of the house (underground of course) and join main sewer line in our front yard. We plan to rain barrel some water, but this roof unfortunately has a large surface area, so unless we wanted to install our own cistern we will have to sewer some water (or risk flooding the neighborhood).
Close up of dense pack
