Sisters

I wanted to write a whole bunch but need to go to bed instead. I'll just post a few pictures then and leave the anecdotes for later. Let's just say that Zola and Zadie are becoming fast friends these days. When I see them laughing and playing together I think of Zola's first two years as a solitary child and think - OMG - how did she survive with just us!

Zadie really is becoming a little girl and is becoming a great communicator. She nods her head yes and no to questions. She understands way more that I would have ever imagined at this age. Her vocabulary is increasing but is still Zadie-fied. Wawa = water. Rara = Zola. She has finally stopped calling me dada and calls me mama now. It is sweet. She loves, loves, loves her dada. Ba = ball. Boo = balloon. She is quite the sound effect maker to convey her point. Smacking her lips to let us know she is hungry. Making sucking noises to let us know she wants her binky. Saying "up" and "down" while making the motions.

Zadie also wants to do EVERYTHING that Zola does. For example, Zola was removing shovel fulls of sand out of the sandbox today and pouring them on a nearby bush. Although I asked her to stop as we really want to keep the sand IN the sandbox she continued her sand transfer project. Next thing I see is Zadie getting very upset with her shovel. It seems that the sand keeps sliding off the shovel when she lifts it up. I locate the "better" shovel for her thinking she really just wanted to scoop some sand. Next think I see is Zadie dumping her shovel of sand on the bush. This is hard work for her, getting in and out of the box without dumping her sand, but she manages. It is at this moment that it really makes sense why she was SO frustrated. She wanted to do just what Zola was doing.

Just think of the above story and apply it to everything, from same sippy cups, to same food, to same treats (check out the lollipop girls), to dress up clothes, to wearing shoes...and in the future to boyfriends, to curfews, to allowance...you get the point.

The partners in crime picture is so sweet. I also have lots of photos of Jack looking adoringly at Violet.
