The Family Band

Zola's colorful scribble. She requested I put this on the blog.

Water table fun
The water/swim setup. I set up all this fun water and I believe they played in it for about 5 minutes! Mmm, Zola's excuse was she had fresh boo boos on her knees and doesn't like how they sting when they are wet. Zadie's excuse was, she has to do water Zola does so she didn't want to play in the water anymore!

We had been going crazy making paper doll chains. I would make the paper doll chain and Zola would then cut all the dolls apart (kind of defeats the whole chain idea). She requested that I number them all. I think we had 30 girls in skirts, 5 mamas, 5 bears, 10 boys, and then 20 little babies. She then stacked them all on top of each other, her version of a paper doll chain.

Spring PJs, tank top and shorts, but still using Winter blanket.

Cutesey on the couch

Homemade car. This car has been expanded to hold five babies in the middle and has been further decorated. You can fit a lot more babies in the car when they don't need giant car seats and just fit into little slots, mmm, maybe I should patten it. The bears are the parents and I am not quite sure who Minnie & Mickey are. The grandparents?

Up early, watering the flowers

New hair style & drinking milk from a sippy. Well at least sipping from a sippy. The girl is not so much into milk that doesn't come from her favorite cow, her mommy.

The family band. For a surprise anniversary/father's day present I got Woody's original trumpet cleaned and repaired. I couldn't keep it a secret for very long because I was super excited to find the right fix-it person without Woody finding out. It was an early present but we had fun as the family band this afternoon. I didn't catch it on video but Zadie actually was able to purse her lips and blow in just the right way to actually make a sound on the trumpet. This is an extrememly difficult thing to do, just ask anyone who has ever listened to someone try to play the trumpet for the first time. We were super proud of our little prodigy (I mean offspring).

We are also experiencing a word explosion from Zadie these days. She is practicing moving all her vowels and consonents around in her mouth. It sometimes sounds like she is developing her own language. Her 'p' sound is quite improved and she likes to put emphasis on it when she says "up" or "open". She loves to say "up, down, up, down, up, down" over and over again. Zola's name now kind of sounds like "rora". She also learned to say Elmo, even though for a few days it came out as elbow. Zola and I would laugh and then showed her where her elbow was. She has got it down now even though it is a little difficult for her hand to find her elbow sometimes.

Zola is riding the emotional roller coaster of life. She has her good times and her sad times. The worst part is trying to give her a bath with all of her acquired boo boos. The water stings them and we have found a pretty good solution of tying a wash cloth around her knees and then have her stand up while we do a quick hair/body wash. The funny thing is though, is that after all the washing is complete she magically sits in the tub and plays and the boo boos just don't seem to hurt as much. Mmm.
