Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there. OK, that sounds kind of bad. I promised to clean up the blog after I let slip the word that can mean poop and rhymes with bit. You know what I am talking about. Sigh. I am over feeling bad about selling the condo for a steal. I am happy to know that someone will be moving in here and we can move on to the house. The house, the house! We are in the final stretch!
I decided getting a manicure/pedicure today would be my mother's day gift to myself. I would go and have someone remove dead skin from my feet, massage my toes, put pretty polish on my nails, and read trashy gossip magazines while this was occurring. What I didn't keep in mind is that I would have this sudden irrational urge to bring Zola with me and have a Mother/Daughter nail session. I don't think I had a manicure or pedicure until after college. Zola has had her first experience at the ripe age of three. I don't plan on making it a habit but we really did have a good time. They just painted her toes and finger nails and even put a pretty flower decal on for her. I will have to take a picture and post it. She was such a patient, calm child. She kept saying, wow, this is so pretty, this is so fancy.
I titled the picture below "early math." I believe she demonstrates counting and division in her Magnadoodle picture. She kept drawing it over and over again and requested I take pictures of it for the blog.

Zola likes to have a cup of hot chocolate in the morning. It compliments my coffee. Here she is tharning over something in her mind as she holds her cup contemplatively.
We enjoyed the very warm Friday afternoon playing on the deck. To keep Zola busy I got her a bucket of water so she could continue her spring cleaning of her house. After her clothes got totatlly soaked she requested her bathing suit. This is a handy-me-down bikini from Mia. It is super cute, although it looks so tiny. She then proceeded to try and "swim" (aka sit) in the bucket of water. Listen closely in the video when she asks me to put on my suit.
Zadie has blossomed before our very eyes. The girl is an avid listener to books. She really likes Good Night Gorrila and will go back to the page where the zoo keeper's wife realizes that all the animals are in her bedroom - the page all black with two white eyes. She raises her hands up to as if to say, huh? what? Zadie is also a lover of animals. All animals. She is particular to dogs. She loves all dogs, even the barking ones. Our neighbors have an 8 month old golden retriever. The first night the dog was here Zadie could barely go to sleep. She kept wanting to go on the deck to see the dog. When the dog barked, Zadie thought the dog was in distress. She wanted to go on the deck and give the dog her binky and her bear. Her best lovies. If you ask her to give the dog a kiss she purses her lips and gets ready for her dog kiss, which can either be a lick or just a touch of wet dog nose. This is juxaposed to Zola's "I don't like dogs, I just like stuffed dogs, like my stuffed dog Gloria." Zadie has kissed three dogs to date. It is cute every time. I just have to make sure the dogs are safe, I think she thinks they all want her to hug and pet them.
Zadie had also become addicted to lollipops, due to Zola's influence. She knows where I keep them in the cupboard. Will go to the cupboard, point and say "baa, baa." As if baa sounded like pop??? When I say, "are you crazy? It is only 7 o'clock in the morning!" She seems unfazed and proceeds to throw herself on the ground screaming. I don't give in, but the girl is not distractable. She eventually gives up and we move on. This same determination is demonstrated when we are leaving the house. If she at all for some reason thinks that we are going on an adventure walk and all of a sudden we are trying to get into the car she is having none of that. Zadie likes to go on walks, pick dandelions, push her baby stroller all over the neighborhood and none of that involves her getting into the car. Let's just say, the girl has some lungs.

I decided to plant flowers on the deck even though the condo will close at the end of July. We may be out sooner than the end of July but we wanted to give ourselves enough cushion for house completion. I have never planted Dahlias but think they fit nicely in this pot. I will leave the flowers to the new couple. I hope one of them has a slighly green thumb and can handle watering these very thirsty plants in August. We are certainly enjoying all the blooms. Zadie can't wait to get outside every morning and check the flowers. I don't think she can even imagine going back to winter time where we could never just walk outside and smell the flowers.
Morning deck fun
